Mercy Johnson To Dedicate Daughter On April 28

Nollywood actress and Nursing mother,Mercy Johnson has picked April 28 2013 as the date for her daughter's dedication to God.

Mercy arrived Nigeria from the US last week with her beautiful daughter,Purity and immediately chose April 28th for her child's dedication ceremony.

The actress and her family relocated from their Omole estate home to their personal house at Thomas Estate,Ajah,lagos.The new landed property will be the venue of the event.

Saka Turns MTN Ambassador, Disses Etisalat

Here's a brief observations:

* Hafiz Oyetoro aka Saka, appears to be the ambassador for this campaign. He was popular with the Etisalat brand and it seemed his loyalty to that brand was unquestionable. In this commercial, he is systematically unveiled as he sings the theme song, with emphasis (to my mind) on 'I don port o... to MTN.' That definitely cracked me up. I'm certain his Etisalat days are over. I doubt we'll be seeing 'Saka' in any other adverts for Etisalat except to demonstrate how number portability enables him to 'dump' MTN 90 days later, due to unsatisfactory services (or contract terms). (hahaha)

* Next, judging by the speed with which advert was released, MTN takes the bull by the horns, confident that this scheme is more favourable to them more than their competitors. I can't imagine how long they took to woo Mr. Saka for this one.

Sandra Ekperuoh's Mechanic Workshop Re-Opened

 

After reporting what happened to Sandra Ekperuoh's workshop (It was sealed by officials of the Waste Water Management and Sewage Board yesterday, the gates of the workshop was re-opened last night around 10pm upon directive of the Lagos State Governor, Babatunde Raji Fashola

One of the governor's aides read about the incident online and called the staff at the workshop to find out the situation of things. On informing his boss, Governor Fashola directed the gates be reopened because those who came to seal them up yesterday acted on their own directives without the Governors knowledge. Great stuff!

Over 30 Houses, Shops Razed In Ibadan Petroleum Tanker Accident

The sad incident occurred yesterday afternoon Monday April 22nd in the Omitowoju area of Ibadan, in Oyo State. The fire started after a fully loaded petroleum tanker passing through a residential area fell off the road and spilled its 33, 000 litres of petrol.

Over 30 houses and and at least 30 shops in the area were burnt to ashes. The National Emergency Management Agency (NEMA) eventually put out the fire but couldn't say for sure if anyone was killed by the fire.

At her sentencing yesterday, the mother of 6 was given two weeks to come up with $504,000 or face up to two and a half years in prison. She has up until May 6 to produce the money.

Liverpool striker Luis Suarez today Sunday April 21st bit the arm of Chelsea defender Branislav Ivanovic during their Premier League match. Wande Coal Set To Release Sophomore Album In June

WC fans brace yourselves as the man who brought you Private Trips and Go Low is concluding plans to drop another sizzling hot album.

We can now exclusively reveal that Wande Coal’s sophomore album is set to be released on June 6th 2013 under the Mavin Records label. The as-yet-untitled project has been under the direct supervision of the Mavin head honcho, Don Jazzy.

The 12-track album is now in the closing stages of production and it promises to treat fans to star studded collaborations with other members of the Mavin crew.

The new album, which comes five long years after the record-breaking ‘Mushin to Mohits,’ also features a special collaboration with a mystery international act whose identity will remain under wraps for now. All we can reveal that is the track is being produced by Don Jazzy and initial signs are that this is a game-changer.

A mouth-watering bounty of three new videos will also be launched simultaneously as soon as the album is released.

Despite setbacks from Nigerian Copyright Commission as a result of the ban on his Go Low video, his songs have continued to enjoy airplay and multiple listens both locally and internationally. Other recent singles such as Sexcellency, The Kick and My Way have already captured the imagination of the listening public. The hard working songster also featured on two tracks on the D’Prince’s Frenzy album, also released under Mavin Records.

From all indications WC is forging ahead in the Mavin crew’s inevitably quest for global domination. He is currently setting Europe ablaze on a tour that has sold out across different venues. After a long hiatus, all signs show that the Black Diamond of Africa is primed to put the kick back into the Nigerian music industry.

Baba Suwe Battles NDLEA Over N25M

Yoruba actor, Babatunde Omidina, popularly called Baba Suwe, has urged the Court of Appeal, Lagos, to affirm the judgment of a Lagos High Court, Ikeja awarding him N25m compensation following his detention by the National Drugs Law Enforcement Agency.

The anti-drug agency detained Omidina for 24 days in 2011 on the suspicion that he ingested hard drug.

Justice Chima Nweze-led appellate court reserved the case for judgment after parties adopted their brief of arguments on Thursday.

UNILAG Medical Student Drowns At Elegushi Beach

Eniola Abiola, a 200L student of Dentistry at the University of Lagos Medical School located at Idi-araba met her untimely death as she drowned at the popular Elegushi Beach in Lagos on Friday the 12th of April 2013.
For the past few years, some UNILAG students have been carried away by the ferrocious waves of the Lagos coast in their bid to relax and catch fun with friends.
